Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn everything he could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
