No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup everything he could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.

Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
