Net Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

[ English ]

Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the last table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a massive pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best gamblers anywhere in the world. While betting on net poker, a different side of Hansen has emerged. He often competes in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus frequently buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Gus is an excellent poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I believe television can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The greatest players anywhere in the world might be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen playing online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha/8 and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his abilities in cash games?
