Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
