Poker has become world acclaimed as of late, with televised tournaments and celebrity poker game shows. The games universal appeal, though, arcs back in reality a bit farther than its television scores. Over the years several variants on the first poker game have been developed, including a few games that are not quite poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is one of these particular games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling blackjack than old guard poker, in that the gamblers wager against the casino rather than each other. The succeeding hands, are the traditional poker hands. There is little bluffing or different types of bamboozlement. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to pay up before the dealer broadcasting "No further wagers." At that point, both you and the bank and of course every one of the different players attain 5 cards each. After you have seen your hand and the casino’s initial card, you need to either make a call bet or bow out. The call bet’s value is akin to your beginning ante, which means that the risks will have doubled. Surrendering means that your wager goes immediately to the house. After the wager comes the showdown. If the house does not have ace/king or better, your wager is returned, plus an amount on par with the ante. If the dealer does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand defeats the bank’s hand. The dealer pays chips even with your bet and fixed odds on your call bet. These expectations are:
- Even for a pair or high card
- 2-1 for 2 pairs
- three to one for three of a kind
- four to one for a straight
- 5-1 for a flush
- seven to one for a full house
- 20-1 for a 4 of a kind
- 50-1 for a straight flush
- one hundred to one for a royal flush
